Timmies, Tantrums & TSN Prospects: Chronicles of a Serendipitous Puck Mummy
Today was just one of those days at work where I just wanted out. So I left early. Early enough to catch the last 10 minutes of Noah’s Wednesday hockey practice. Normally I am never at this practice. It totally conflicts with my work day as the practice runs from 4 – 5 pm, so I either arrange for someone to drop him off at home or I race into the parking lot to pick him up at about 5:10 pm. He has no expectation I will ever be there.
I wandered into the rink tonight and purposefully headed to the far end away from the crowd so I could sit and watch him practicing in his small group. I swear I was in the stands no more than 30 seconds before he realized I was there. If he looked at me once during the next 10 minutes, he looked at me 20 times, each time with a smile on his face. He was watching me watching him and it made both of us happy. I’m glad I left work early tonight.
