The Old Fashioned Way
I have all the organizational technology available to me that I could ever need. I have a blackberry, computer with calendar, reminder notices, email, texting and voice-mail. I still can’t seem to keep our family’s daily schedule straight Actually I am quite sure it is technology that has done me in. My information comes at me in so many different formats, that are supposed to be convenient, that it has become inconvenient. So I have decided to go it old-school. I am going to post a big “family calendar” on the bulletin board. In the past I have jotted everything down (with the same marker) on a large one-sheet. Usually it becomes an indecipherable mess. This time I am going to try drawing a calendar on a dry-erase board. Or I might just do it directly on my bulletin board by using IdeaPaint and transforming a section of it into a dry-erase writing area. Once I have figured out those logistics, I am going to assign everyone their colour – I have been doing that with towels and lunch bags for years so each child already knows his colour – and start filling in where everyone needs to be, what they need to bring etc. I know it won’t be the final solution but I think it will be a good step towards organized chaos rather than just plain mayhem.
