No more wet bicycle seats for us
Today was a perfect example of a typical Nova Scotian day. It started off with so much promise – birds chirping and the sun blaring. There was no reason to think that it would turn out to be wet and miserably cold – unless of course you know better and live here. Being the eternal optimist, I chose to believe the day would stay nice. Instead of taking my car to run errands, I decided to ride my bike. Big mistake. The rain started when I was in Woozles buying a birthday present for one of my kid’s friends. When I got out of the store, my seat was drenched. I am not made out of chocolate. Getting wet doesn’t usually phase me but riding your bike with a wet bottom is just no fun.
While I was mulling over my options (get a plastic bag and struggle to keep it on the seat, take a cab and leave the bike until the weather cleared up, go get a coffee and hope for a sudden burst of sunshine to dry my seat), I walked into a store called “Love Me”. As luck would have it, they sold bicycle seat covers. I kid you not. They look like nothing more than a shower cap made out of vinyl with old fashioned designs. It turns out a Canadian artist makes them for days like this. So I picked one up and headed home with a decorated bike and a dry bum.
