Marie-France LeBlanc, Founder & Editor, lives in Halifax with her husband and five kids. In her former life she has been a reporter, producer, PR Executive, Freelancer, Reality TV Show Renovator and now entrepreneur. Although having five kids and a job keep her busy she still has time for a good bargain, a sense of humor, and a glass of wine at the end of the day. Marie-France is an accomplished multi-tasker who tries to stay as cool as possible (in every sense of the word) while taking care of her four sons, one daughter, dog and husband.

Tara Miller is a hockey mom.  Ten years ago, she had quite literally spent no time in a hockey rink.  Now, she has a part time job with over-time (in addition to her full time job…) at rinks all over this province.  She may have not chosen hockey, but hockey seems to have chosen her.

How did this happen?  Firstly, she found a significant other who had spent most of his formative years in a rink.  Secondly, they had a son who would rather play hockey than anything else in the world.  Next, they had a daughter whose sole goal in life since birth is to be her brother.  That means she plays hockey too.  Lastly, they have two SMU university hockey players (and one awesome girlfriend!) live in their basement.  That’s her hockey family.  So, we think that just about qualifies her to write about this topic!  We hope you enjoy. Katherine VanBuskirk – Being a glass-is-half-full kind of girl serves Katherine well as she navigates life in Halifax alongside her husband, son and a dog named Sunday. Her motto: The sun will shine tomorrow and yes, someday we’ll have IKEA. A senior PR consultant at a large ad agency, Kathy counts retail therapy, her DVR, yoga and sushi among the other loves in her life. Her perfect day? An even tie. Shopping then cocktails with a fabulous meal in NYC or a salty beach day finished off with campfire, a sleepy boy in her lap and a s’more in her hand. Read Katherine’s ‘The Deal Is Sweet’ articles.

Jessie Hannah is a recent MSVU graduate who is currently, like most grads she knows, working so far away from her degree she barely recognises the difference between a seventeenth century sonnet and a postmodern feminist free verse. She currently runs a family oriented business (jess of all trades) focused on making the family life easier by providing an extra hand where needed; much of the time this means child care, pet care, house sitting etc. She enjoys wading in mud puddles and cozy bedtime cuddles. She is maintaining her amateur status as a diaper changer with dreams of meddling in the 2010 Olympics. Her idea of style includes rubber boots and miniature muddy hand-prints accessorize most of her outfits. Read Jesse’s ‘Notes From The Inside’ articles.
